Oil Painting - Perky Puppy

IMG_4689.jpeg

A class for adults with prior oil painting experience.  Class subject will be painting a puppy.

Kathy Meador has been an art world junkie most of her life.  She began by majoring in art and teaching art in public schools.  She currently paints oils, pastels, and watercolor. In addition, once a year she faithfully does a scratchboard just for fun.

Supply List for the Class from Kathy:

  • 11x14 canvas or canvas panel.  I use Centurian linen panels.

  • A variety of oil painting brushes. I use wider flats for the background. For the dog I will use both medium size flats and softer filberts. To do the detail work (whiskers and eyes) I use detail brushes like a rigger.

  • Good quality oil painting such as Gamblin or Windsor Newton.

  • White, a warm yellow(cadmium), a cool yellow (lemon), warm red (cadmium), cool red (alizarin) , Payne’s grey, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine and Thalo blue. Probably will not need green as we can mix that. Orange is optional but nice to have. Black optional.

  • Some medium and a low odor solvent. I use Gamsol.  (only low odor solvent please)

  • Probably it would be easiest to use disposable palettes.

  • If someone is out of a particular shade, usually someone can share.
